The Boston Celtics which play for the Atlantic
Division of the Eastern Conference in the NBA hold 17 NBA championships and up
to date, it is considered to be the most number of championships won by any NBA
franchise. Their team was able to make a remarkable 8 consecutive wins in the
NBA. That was in 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965 and 1966. This is the
longest consecutive championship winning streak in the history of any North
American professional Sport.
Boston Celtics’ closest rival in the NBA is the Los
Angeles Lakers. The two teams have faced each other 11 times in the NBA finals
including their latest face-off at the 2007-2008 season. Combining the
victories of Lakers and Celtics, it will add up to 31 championships, half of
the 62 seasons of NBA.
One of the players who served as the team’s center is
Bill Russell. During his 13-year career, he led the Celtics to 11 NBA
championships. Because of some unwanted events, the team went on to the
lowlights of the game for the past years but was able to regain their glory
with the possession of power forward Kevin Garnett and shooting guard Ray
Allen.
The jersey of the Celtics has remained unchanged
through the years. They have stayed in their green jerseys for road games and
white jerseys for home games. For their games in 2005-2006, the team wore green
jerseys with black trim and having the word
