Sacramento Kings

Sacramento Kings became known as Sacramento Kings in 1985 only. The team initially started as Rochester Royals in the city of Rochester, New York for the National Basketball League. Then, in 1957, the team became Cincinnati Royals when they moved to Cincinnati, Ohio. During this, star players of the team were Oscar Robertson and Jerry Lucas. In 1972, the name was changed again to Kansas-Omaha Kings because the baseball team in the city already has the name Royals. After the team moved west to Sacramento, they became established as the Sacramento Kings.

Sacramento Kings have garnered one NBA Championship only and that was in 1951. Their Hall of Famers include Nate Archibald, Al Cervi, Bob Davis, Jerry Lucas, Arnie Risen, Oscar Robertson, Maurice Stokes, Jack Twyman and Bobby Wanzer.

The colors used by the team are purple, black and silver. Back when they were still known as Cincinnati Royals, they introduced the most unusual design of uniform in which the surname of the player is written below his number. During that era, the color of their jerseys transformed from navy blue to powder blue.
